In Greene County district court a judgment was entered May 8 against Penny Lane Sankey, 45, of Fort Dodge on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. Court costs were $95. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B.
Travis Austin Smith was sentenced May 22 to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He must pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee for the time he serves. Smith was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge; both were suspended. Court costs were $140. The court found him able to pay up to $1,000 in sheriff’s fees and court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Terry Ray Anschutz, 24, of Scranton was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the county sheriff for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of serving jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must also complete a community college drinking drivers school. Anschutz was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must also pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: George Joseph Glasgow, 48, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; and Steven Logan Dzuris, 32, of Jefferson, assault on persons in certain occupation and eluding, and in a separate case, OWI- third offense , driving while license barred, eluding, and interference with official acts causing bodily injury. Trial dates were set for Sept. 29 in every case.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Michelle Ann Cook, 20, of Jefferson has been charged with possession of marijuana.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Adam Joseph Harvey, 43, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana; Christopher David Spaulding, 53, of Jefferson OWI- second offense; Justin Joe Downs, 34, of Churdan, there- fourth degree, assault causing injury or mental illness, and criminal mischief- third degree; and Antonio Luis Alexander, 39, of Des Moines, driving while license barred.
